Ingredients for Cannabutter
- 1 lb unsalted butter to each 1 oz of weed
- 2 cups of water.
Preparation for making Cannabutter
- Grind the cannabis to a very fine powder a coffee grinder is good for this
How to Make Cannabutter
- Bring the water to the boil with the pan covered
- Add the butter and let it melt in the water
- When the butter has melted turn down the heat and cover the pan
- Allow to simmer but do not boil
- Take the pan from the heat
- Add the ground weed to the mixture in the pan and whisk it thoroughly
- Once you are sure there are no lumps or pieces stuck to the bottom of the pan put back on the heat
- Simmer for up to 24 hours but no longer you could transfer to a slow cooker/crock pot for this part
- If you leave the mixture heating for longer than the 24 hours the butter will just become bitter and the THC will be destroyed
- Place muslin or cheese cloth over a glass bowl and strain the solution through the cloth into the bowl
- Squeeze the gunk thats left in the cloth to ensure that you get as much THC laden butter out
- Cool the cannabutter mixture in the refrigerator for a couple of hours at least, overnight is best, until the fat separates from the water
- Remove the slab of fat that has formed on top of the liquid; this is your cannabutter
- Dry the cannabutter using paper towels then wrap in plastic wrap, squeezing it into a more manageable size
- Store in an airtight container and freeze
- Use in all your favourite recipes
